As your Dentist, I’d like you to try something for me. Before you go to bed tonight, and before you grab your toothbrush, grab a watch of some sort. If it’s a stopwatch, great. If not, that’s okay.
When you start brushing your teeth, look at the time you start (or push “start” on your stop watch.) Then, go ahead and forget about the watch and brush your teeth normally. When you finish, look at your watch and record the time somewhere.
How long did you brush your teeth?
I’m not going to tell you how long you should brush your teeth – my point isn’t to waggle my finger at you. I just want you to keep track of that number. For a week.
Every day, do the same thing – keep track of your times. Let me know how you do. As your Dentist, this information is valuable to me.
Next week, I’ll give you an average of how everyone else did and you can compare. Then, I’ll discuss the recommended length of brushing time to get the best results.
Let me know!
