Cavity? Don’t Delay. – Advice from the Dentist

Do you think you may have a cavity? Does your tooth hurt a bit? Is it sensitive? If so, it’s important to get it checked out right away.

People too often think they can wait a while – that maybe the pain will go away on its own. However, if a tooth starts to hurt and then the pain goes away, it may be a sign that the tooth is dying – not that the cavity has magically healed itself.

The thing to understand about getting a cavity repaired is that tooth enamel is only 2.5 millimeters at its thickest – and is considerably thinner near the gum line. Once a cavity starts, it does not take long for it to get worse. Even the delay of a few months can make a big difference in the integrity of the tooth.
